About South Asia Guide

South Asia Guide is an independent travel and culture publication covering India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives and Pakistan. The region is home to around a quarter of humanity and an astonishing diversity of languages, faiths, cuisines and climates.

What we focus on

• Timing: monsoons, heat and festivals shape everything.
• Transport: trains, buses and the patience they require.
• Culture: respectful behaviour at religious sites and in homes.
• Food: regional dishes, street food and sweets.

Our approach

We avoid generalising about "South Asia" — a village in Kerala and a city in Rajasthan are worlds apart. We point you to official sources for visas and rules.
